Practical ontology applications, tooling and interoperability best practices for FAIRification

9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Venue: Cormack room University Centre, Granta Place, Mill Lane, Cambridge CB2 1RU (Map)

Danielle Welter (EMBL-EBI), Randi Vita (The OBO Foundry), and Sirarat Sarntivijai (ELIXIR)

This workshop will provide an interactive introduction to FAIRification and interoperability best practices in the context of ontology services and semantic web technologies such as the OBO Foundry, ontology service suite at the EMBL-EBI and ELIXIR’s Recommended Interoperability Resources (RIRs). We will introduce the OBO Foundry and present a range of use cases of curation projects using ontologies and tooling to make biological data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) before giving attendees the opportunity to explore the demonstration of ontology and semantic web resources through a range of set exercises and open discussion. We hope to gather feedback from curators as to how these tools and services can better serve their needs.
